Taylor Wimpey donate to over 50s football club

We love to share news from our clients monthly, and this month Taylor Wimpey have been donating to the Tees Valley Walking Football club, a club designed footballers over 50.The donation was from The Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire business unit.

The team plays near Taylor Wimpey’s Rose Cottage Farm development in Stainton and used the money to fund its inaugural tournament at Goals Teesside on Saturday 24th September.

Andrew Charlesworth, head organiser of Tees Valley Walking Football, comments: “Tees Valley Walking Football only launched nine weeks ago, but is already very dedicated to helping people over the age of 50 to keep active by playing the beautiful game, even if it is at a slower pace!

“Our tournament has already had a fantastic response from the local community and this donation will help us to organise a great event for our players.”

Research suggests that over-50s football has significant health benefits. Those who play have more muscle, harder bones, better cardiovascular systems and more jumping height and strength.

Debbie Whittingham, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, adds: “Tees Valley Walking Football is a fantastic initiative with some great health benefits for over-50s in the local community.

“When we heard about how much the club helps those in and around the area we were only too happy to support the forthcoming tournament. We’ve no doubt that Goals Teesside will be a fantastic event and look forward to seeing many more familiar faces attend the club.”

Andrew concludes: “On behalf of everyone at Tees Valley Walking Football, I’d like to extend our thanks and gratitude to the Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire team. It’s great they see the potential in our club and we hope to work with them again in the future.”
